What it is

Breezy HR runs hiring as a pipeline. Candidates move through stages you define, applications arrive from a customizable career site and more than 50 job boards, and resumes are parsed in more than 20 languages so applicant details fill themselves in. Paid tiers add automated workflows, questionnaires, employee referrals, interview standardization, offer management and HRIS integrations.

Its distinguishing feature at the small end is the free Bootstrap plan: one active position, unlimited users, and access to candidates added in the last 30 days.

Who it's for (and who it isn't)

It fits small companies that hire a few times a year and want structure without a recruiting platform's annual cost. Being able to run one open role for free, with the whole team able to comment and score, is exactly what a ten-person company needs.

It is a weaker fit for continuous hiring across many roles, where the price ladder gets steep quickly and Workable at $299 per month with unlimited jobs may work out better. It is also not an HR system of record: employee data after the hire belongs somewhere like BambooHR.

Pricing

Breezy HR is freemium. Bootstrap is $0 per month with 1 active position, unlimited users and access to candidates added within the last 30 days. Startup is $157 per month billed annually, or $189 monthly, with unlimited positions. Growth is $273 per month annually, or $329 monthly, and adds employee referrals and interview standardization. Business is $439 per month annually, or $529 monthly, and adds offer management and HRIS integrations. A Custom Pro plan adds a dedicated account manager.

The 30-day candidate window on the free plan is the detail to notice. It is enough to run one hire start to finish, and it means the free tier cannot double as a talent pool you return to later.

Set it up

Official guide: Getting Started: Creating your first position

  1. Create a Breezy HR account on the Bootstrap free plan. It gives you 1 active position (a job that is open to applicants), unlimited users, and access to candidates added in the last 30 days. Your Bootstrap account is now ready.
  2. Click the gear icon in the left sidebar, then "Company Settings", then "Career Site". In "General", add your logo and click "Save Changes". Click "View Career Site" in the bottom-right corner. You now see your public career site, the web page that lists your open jobs.
  3. Click "Positions/Pools" in the left sidebar, then "+ Add Position". Fill in the four required fields: Position Title, Position Type, Location and Job Description. Click "Next Step" through the remaining sections. You now see "Activate Position" and "Save as Draft".
  4. Click "Activate Position" only for a job you are ready to hire for: it goes public on your career site right away, and Breezy's team then posts it to the free job boards, which are switched on by default. Click "Save as Draft" instead to finish later. Once you activate, the position's status dot now turns green.
  5. Open your position from "Positions/Pools" and click "+ Add Candidates" in the top-right corner. Enter a test candidate's details or attach their files. Your test candidate now appears under the position.
  6. Drag the candidate's name to a different stage. A stage is one step of your hiring process. The candidate now sits in the new stage.
  7. Open the candidate's profile and click "Scorecard" near the top-right corner. A scorecard is a short form where each team member rates a candidate. Select an "Overall Rating" (thumbs-up, neutral or thumbs-down), add written feedback and click "Save Scorecard". The average of your team's overall ratings now appears near the candidate's profile picture.

When this works, you have a career site, one live job and a test candidate you moved between stages and rated.

On Startup ($157/mo billed annually ($189 monthly)): unlimited positions. On Growth ($273/mo annually ($329 monthly)): employee referrals (current staff recommending candidates) and interview standardization (asking every candidate the same set of questions).

Strengths and limitations

The strength is the free tier for occasional hiring. Most applicant tracking systems price for companies always hiring, and the ones that do not usually cripple the free plan. One live role with unlimited users is a real offer.

The limitations are the jump and the retention window. Going from free to Startup is $157 per month billed annually, which is a large step for a company hiring twice a year, and the 30-day candidate access on free means you cannot build a pool. Note also that candidate data falls under GDPR: decide how long you keep unsuccessful applications and say so in the posting.
